Case study: Modern workplace transformation for Sussex Wildlife Trust

Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) partnered with us to successfully relocate from their long-standing premises of over 60 years into a modern office environment built around flexibility, collaboration, and sustainable working practices.

This move formed a key milestone within a broader IT roadmap designed to modernise SWT’s technology environment and bring systems and ways of working up to current standards. Together, we designed and delivered a secure, modern workplace technology framework to support hot-desking, hybrid meetings and room booking.

The result was a smooth transition with minimal disruption, improved collaboration across teams, and a more agile digital workplace aligned with SWT’s ongoing modernisation journey.

About Sussex Wildlife Trust

Sussex Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity dedicated to protecting the rich natural life of Sussex. The Trust manages nature reserves, delivers education and engagement programmes, and campaigns for the protection of wildlife and wild places across the county.

The challenge: From fixed desks to modern working practices

Sussex Wildlife Trust had been based in the same location for over six decades. Their existing infrastructure and working environment reflected traditional working patterns and static desk arrangements. As they prepared to move office, SWT wanted to:

• modernise how their teams worked as part of a wider IT roadmap
• support flexible and hot-desking practices
• enable seamless collaboration between office-based and remote colleagues
• ensure secure and reliable connectivity across the new site
• minimise risk during the transition to the new network

The solution: Enabling collaboration, flexibility and security

Working in close partnership with Sussex Wildlife Trust, we designed and implemented a modern workplace environment aligned to their long-term technology strategy, not just the immediate relocation project.

Key elements of the solution included:

• Secure wireless network deployment to underpin the new hot-desking model and allow staff to work from anywhere within the office
• Microsoft Teams Room collaboration experience delivered using Yealink meeting room solutions for high quality hybrid meetings
• Meeting room booking and visibility through shared calendars and room displays showing availability and booking status
• Risk reduction through the use of loan network equipment for user acceptance testing prior to the live network move

Throughout the project, we worked as a collaborative partner, aligning technology to SWT’s culture, people, strategic objectives, and plans for continued digital transformation.
