Tectrans, a global translation specialist, transformed its business by moving from a restrictive Citrix-hosted IT setup to a secure, flexible Microsoft 365 cloud environment. This shift delivered immediate cost savings, improved productivity, and enabled the team to deliver exceptional service to their clients worldwide.
Tectrans are a professional translation company of more than 20 years. Their specialist services of technical translation, interpreting, printing and DTP/Typesetting offer a tailored language solution to clients across the globe.
Tectrans routinely need to handle sensitive and confidential information as part of their translation work. The Citrix remote desktop system was implemented as a solution to that problem, keeping the sensitive documents protected within the system so they never had to be transferred outside of it.
However, this legacy Citrix-hosted remote desktop, once a suitable solution for the business, had become a daily frustration. Staff faced sluggish performance, frequent disruptions, and a rigid system that made flexible work difficult.
Mounting infrastructure and licensing costs drained resources, while teams juggled complex management and support. Instead of empowering the business, technology had become a bottleneck, slowing productivity and making it harder to deliver the service clients expected.
Tectrans made a bold decision to leave behind its outdated IT infrastructure and embrace a future-ready, cloud-first strategy. Partnering closely with our team, they embarked on a fixed-cost migration to Microsoft 365, transforming not just their technology, but the way their business operates.
The transition replaced the rigid Citrix/RDS environment with a suite of modern, integrated tools:
Staff quickly embraced the new tools, reporting faster performance and greater reliability.
“The transition was seamless – our operations continued without interruption, and our customers and suppliers didn’t even notice a change, which is exactly what we wanted.
The move to SharePoint and Purview has been a significant upgrade from the Citrix desktops we previously used. Not only has it delivered substantial cost savings, but colleagues and translators find it far more convenient and efficient, enabling them to work smarter and faster.” — Andrew Winterbottom, Manager, Tectrans
Tectrans now operates with a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure. The transformation delivered:
Staff feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The tools were faster, easier to use, and more reliable, giving teams the confidence to work flexibly and efficiently, so they could focus on delivering exceptional client service.
This project was more than a technical upgrade. It was a collaborative effort to rethink how Tectrans’s team works, communicates, and grows. Together, we moved away from a legacy setup that had become a barrier and built a cloud-based infrastructure that supports the business today and into the future.
The Citrix-hosted remote desktop solution had once been the right choice for protecting their sensitive documents, offering centralised control and secure access. But over time, it became expensive, restrictive, and increasingly frustrating for staff. Rather than continuing to invest in a system that no longer served their needs, Tectrans chose to evolve.
By working closely with their team, we delivered a solution that was secure, scalable, and easy to use. Microsoft 365 gave them the flexibility to work from anywhere, with tools that are intuitive and reliable. The rollout was smooth, the performance gains were immediate, and the feedback from staff confirmed the impact.
Modern organisations rely heavily on digital systems to support day‑to‑day operations. Cloud platforms, connected devices and integrated applications now play a central role in how teams communicate, collaborate and deliver services. As a result, IT environments have become larger, more interconnected and constantly active. Systems generate continuous activity across users, devices, networks and cloud services, making it increasingly difficult to recognise when something unusual is…
